One thing I realized over the holidays is that our dining room furniture is totally inadequate and out of date. Now that the family has left the building and we have had a bit of time to relax, I'm looking into updating our dining room.

I recently was cat-sitting for a friend and stayed in their apartment for a few days. The best part (other than some kitty love) was their bedroom. I didn't realize how soothing a bedroom could be! They had a wonderful mattress, beautiful queen sleigh bed, and matching dark wood armoire and dresser. They even had a miniature waterfall with a buddha in it! I haven't slept so well in years. My bedroom is filled with papers, books, old second-hand furniture and whatever else I can't find room for. I've been inspired to do some cleaning and upgrades.

Giveaway!
Who isn't a fan of stools?
The nice people who sell cooking supplies and stools over at http://www.cookware.com/ and http://www.allbarstools.com/ got in touch with me about hosting a giveaway. That's right! I just started this blog about my winnings and now I get to offer something to someone else!
I'll update more about the giveaway soon. Right now I'm thinking of offering a nice porcelain Paula Deen pan with lid. This is a piece of cookware that can be all-purpose-- soups, saute, and it can even go in the oven. It's really pretty. Take a look at:
